Punjab Police extradites BKI terrorist Parminder Singh alias Pindi from UAE with CBI & MEA support, marking a major win against terror networks.
Chandigarh/Batala, September 27: In a major breakthrough against terrorism, Punjab Police has successfully brought back wanted Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) terrorist Parminder Singh alias Pindi from Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates (UAE), marking a significant victory in the state’s fight against organised crime and terror networks.
Director General of Police (DGP) Punjab, Gaurav Yadav, confirmed the extradition on Saturday, stating that this high-profile operation was made possible through close coordination with the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), UAE authorities and other central agencies.
Parminder Singh, a resident of Harsha village in Batala, has been identified as a close associate of internationally designated terrorists Harwinder Singh alias Rinda and Happy Passia. According to police records, he was actively involved in several heinous crimes, including petrol bomb attacks, violent assaults and extortion cases in the Batala–Gurdaspur region. Investigations further revealed that Pindi exploited social media platforms to organise violent activities and fund his terror operations.
Highlighting the operational details, DGP Yadav said, “Acting swiftly on a Red Corner Notice issued by INTERPOL on the request of Batala Police, a four-member Punjab Police team travelled to UAE on September 24, completed legal procedures in coordination with MEA and UAE authorities, and successfully brought the accused back to India.”
Expressing gratitude, he added, “Punjab Police remains firm on its zero-tolerance policy towards terrorism. I thank the Ministry of External Affairs, the Government of UAE, CBI and all other central agencies for their invaluable support in ensuring this terrorist faces justice in India.”
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Batala, Suhail Qasim Mir, provided further insights, noting that the CBI, acting as India’s National Central Bureau for INTERPOL, facilitated the issuance of the Red Corner Notice through its BHARATPOL platform. “This global alert was instrumental in tracking Pindi’s movements and locating him in Abu Dhabi. His arrest and extradition mark the dismantling of a crucial node in a transnational terror network,” he said.
Police officials emphasized that Pindi’s return will not only strengthen ongoing investigations but also send a strong message to terror groups operating from across the border that India’s law enforcement agencies have global reach and no safe haven will shield offenders from justice.
This successful extradition comes as part of the ongoing drive led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann’s government to crack down on terrorism and organized crime, reaffirming Punjab’s determination to uphold peace and security.
