
Chandigarh: Punjab is witnessing the return of the monsoon, with early morning showers recorded across several districts. Chandigarh and Hoshiarpur experienced heavier rainfall, while other areas reported lighter rain or clear skies. According to the Meteorological Department, the monsoon has started retreating from western Punjab and is expected to withdraw completely by September 25, 2025.
Weather experts have also warned that a Western Disturbance may hit Punjab towards the end of September, bringing intermittent rain to the region.

On Saturday, before the monsoon began its gradual withdrawal, rainfall occurred between 3 AM and 8 AM in many districts. Chandigarh and Hoshiarpur reported significant showers, while most other districts experienced clear weather.
Dr. Surinderpal, Director of Chandigarh Meteorological Center, stated that the monsoon is slowly retreating from western Punjab, although other areas continue to experience active monsoon conditions. Intermittent rainfall is expected until September 25, after which a Western Disturbance Punjab may bring fresh showers, especially in the last week of the month.
This year, Punjab has seen above-normal rainfall, making the 2025 monsoon season more intense than usual and highlighting the need for residents to stay alert for sudden weather changes.
