Chandigarh: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has filed a supplementary charge-sheet against three accused — Rohan Masih, Vishal Masih, and Abhijot Singh — in connection with the grenade attack in Sector 10, Chandigarh.
The fresh charge-sheet, submitted before the NIA court here, follows the emergence of additional evidence during further investigation. Earlier, in March, the agency had charge-sheeted US-based gangster-turned-terrorist Harpreet Singh and Pakistan-based terrorist Harwinder Singh Rinda in the same case.
The case pertains to the incident of September 11, 2024, when a grenade was hurled at the residence of a retired principal in Sector 10-D. The blast caused damage but the house owners — the retired principal and his wife — narrowly escaped as they had moved indoors minutes before the explosion.
According to the NIA, Rohan and Vishal allegedly carried out the grenade attack at the behest of Harpreet Singh and Rinda, after conducting a recce of the site. Post the incident, Harpreet reportedly claimed responsibility for targeting a retired Superintendent of Police (SP), who, officials said, had long been on the radar of militants.
Chandigarh Police had initially investigated the case and arrested five people, including an auto driver who ferried the attackers. The probe was later handed over to the NIA. CCTV footage showing the accused proved key in the arrests.
Investigators have now linked Abhijot Singh to the conspiracy, based on interrogation of co-accused and forensic analysis of mobile phone data sent to the Central Forensic Science Laboratory (CFSL). The findings, officials said, confirm connections between the accused and Pakistan-based terrorists.
