Delhi takes a big leap in holistic healthcare with 187 new Arogya Mandirs under the Ayushman Bharat Programme
A Step Forward in India’s Health Revolution
In a major move to expand accessible healthcare, Delhi is set to open 187 new Arogya Mandirs by December this year. The initiative aligns with the Ayushman Bharat Programme, a national mission to provide affordable, holistic, and preventive healthcare across India. These wellness centers will focus on Ayurveda, Yoga, Unani, Siddha, and Homeopathy (AYUSH) systems, offering a mix of traditional and modern health services for comprehensive care.
Promoting Preventive and Holistic Health
The upcoming centers are designed to shift India’s healthcare approach from disease treatment to disease prevention. Each Arogya Mandir will serve as a hub for promoting lifestyle correction, yoga sessions, and herbal therapies, empowering citizens to take charge of their health naturally.
Trained AYUSH doctors and health professionals will conduct regular check-ups, nutrition counseling, and wellness programs for lifestyle disorders like diabetes, hypertension, and obesity.
Part of a Nationwide Healthcare Transformation
The expansion of Arogya Mandirs is a key part of the Ayushman Bharat Health and Wellness Centres initiative. These centers aim to bring universal health coverage to every corner of India, integrating both modern and traditional healthcare systems under one roof.
The move comes after the successful establishment of similar centers in several Indian states, where thousands have benefited from affordable herbal treatments, yoga therapies.
Government’s Vision for Healthier India
Officials have confirmed that the Delhi government is accelerating the construction and staffing of these centers to meet the December deadline. Each facility will be equipped with diagnostic services, herbal pharmacies, and wellness zones to ensure quality care at the grassroots level.
This initiative not only supports the Ayushman Bharat Programme’s focus on health equity but also strengthens India’s commitment to Ayurveda and traditional medicine systems, recognized globally for their preventive approach.
