The CBI raid at the residences of Punjab Police Ropar Range DIG Harcharan Singh Bhullar has concluded after 21 hours. The total cash recovered from the DIG’s house in Chandigarh’s Sector 40 has reached ₹7 crore. In addition, over 15 properties, keys to Audi and Mercedes cars, luxury watches, imported liquor, and three weapons have also been found. All items have been seized and taken to the CBI office.
DIG Bhullar and his middleman Krishnu will soon be produced before the special CBI court in Chandigarh. Both are currently being kept at the CBI office in Sector 30, Chandigarh.
Meanwhile, the first photo of the DIG and his middleman after their arrest has surfaced. The CBI got Bhullar’s medical examination done at Sector 16 Hospital, Chandigarh. During the medical, the DIG had his face covered with a handkerchief, was dressed in pants and a shirt, and was wearing a wristwatch.
DIG Bhullar and Krishnu were arrested yesterday (October 16). Krishnu was first caught red-handed in Sector 21 while accepting a bribe of ₹8 lakh from scrap dealer Aakash Batta of Mandi Gobindgarh. Later, when the DIG summoned the businessman and the middleman to his Mohali office, the CBI team accompanied them and arrested the DIG red-handed while he was accepting the bribe.
The businessman had alleged that he was being threatened with the filing of a chargesheet in a 2023 case registered at Sirhind police station. The case pertained to alleged sale of goods brought from Delhi using fake bills and bilty slips. Under this pressure, the bribe was demanded, following which he approached the CBI with a complaint.
