Former Punjab DGP Mohammad Mustafa addresses media following murder FIR in son's death case
Akeel Akhtar was found dead in August under suspicious circumstances. Before his death, he recorded a video accusing his father of having an illicit relationship with his wife and alleging that his mother and sister were conspiring against him.
Following the video, police registered an FIR under Sections 103(1) (murder) and 61 (criminal conspiracy) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) against Mustafa, his wife Sultana, their daughter, and daughter-in-law.
Responding to the allegations, Mustafa said that filing an FIR does not prove guilt and that the “real investigation” begins now. He expressed confidence that the truth will soon come to light.
“The registration of an FIR absolutely does not mean that someone’s guilt has been proven. The real investigation will begin now, and in a few days, the truth will come out before the public,” Mustafa said.

The former Punjab DGP also alleged “dirty politics and cheap thinking” behind the case, warning that those responsible for filing the “baseless” FIR should be ready to face the law.
